How MachineWura Beat the Fear of Fake Electronics and Grew Sales 200%

Ghanaian buyers wanted electronics but feared being sold fakes. How trust-first branding, Google Search ads and a WhatsApp sales flow grew MachineWura's sales 200% in its first quarter.

MachineWura is a consumer electronics brand in the Wura Group family. It runs on a demand-sourcing model: products are sourced from suppliers only after a confirmed, paid order. That means no stock risk.

It also created a serious marketing problem.

The problem: trust

Ghanaian buyers are deeply sceptical about buying electronics online, and for good reason. Counterfeit and substandard products are common. Customers wanted electronics, but were afraid of being sold fakes.

The demand-sourcing model made it harder. With no stock on hand, there were no shelves to photograph, delivery took longer, and the brand had no physical proof of inventory. Standard product advertising wasn't going to work.

What we did

1. Built the brand around protection

We positioned MachineWura as the opposite of the counterfeit market. Website copy, adverts and social content all centred on authenticity checks, supplier credentials and a money-back guarantee for any counterfeit product.

The message wasn't "cheap electronics". It was "genuine electronics, guaranteed".

2. Ran Google Search ads for buyers already looking

We launched Google Search campaigns aimed at high-intent searches: people actively looking to buy specific electronics in Ghana. These buyers were already in buying mode. What they needed was a seller they could trust. See Google Ads in Ghana.

3. Built a WhatsApp sales flow

We created a structured WhatsApp flow that handled the most common objections in order: is this genuine, how long will delivery take, and what happens if there's a problem. It guided buyers from enquiry to payment in a clear sequence. See WhatsApp marketing for Ghanaian businesses.

4. Collected social proof

We set up a system for collecting and displaying testimonials from real buyers, especially chat screenshot reviews, to build the proof that convinces sceptical new customers. See customer reviews and testimonials.

Why it worked

Trust was the product. In a market full of fakes, a clear promise of authenticity, with a guarantee behind it, was more persuasive than any discount.

Intent beat interruption. Google Search reached people already looking to buy, at the moment they were choosing a seller.

Objections were answered before they killed the sale. The WhatsApp flow meant every buyer got the same strong answers, quickly.

Proof kept compounding. Every happy buyer made the next sale easier.
