Marketing for B2B Companies, Distributors and Manufacturers in Ghana

B2B deals in Ghana take months and involve several decision-makers. How distributors, manufacturers and service firms can fill the pipeline, win tenders and stop losing deals in follow-up.

If you sell to other businesses, one new account can be worth more than a year of consumer sales, and one quote that nobody followed up can cost you a quarter's profit. B2B marketing in Ghana is not about likes. It's about being on the shortlist before the procurement officer starts looking, and staying in front of every decision-maker until the purchase order is signed.

This guide is for distributors, manufacturers, wholesalers and B2B service firms: packaging, building materials, industrial equipment, solar, logistics, office supplies, agro-inputs, IT and facilities.

Why is B2B marketing in Ghana different?

B2B is different because the sale is slow, the buyer is a committee and the relationship matters as much as the price. A typical deal looks like this: an operations manager has a problem, the MD wants three quotes, procurement needs your documents, finance asks about credit terms, and the decision sits for six weeks while everyone is busy.

Most Ghanaian B2B companies grow on referrals and the MD's personal network. That works until it doesn't. A big client changes management, a key salesperson leaves, or a competitor arrives with a sharper offer, and suddenly the pipeline is empty with no system to refill it.

The fix is not "post more on Facebook". It's a system that finds the right companies, earns their trust before the first meeting and makes sure no enquiry or quote goes cold.

What has changed in how businesses buy?

Business buyers now do much of their research before they ever call you.

  • They search first. A procurement officer at a mining firm in Tarkwa or a factory in Tema types "industrial PPE supplier Ghana" or "cold room installation Accra" before asking colleagues.
  • They ask AI assistants. "Who are the best packaging manufacturers in Ghana?" now goes to ChatGPT, Gemini and Google's AI answers, which name a few companies and summarise them. If your website and the wider web say little about you, you're not in that answer.
  • Public procurement is online. The Public Procurement Authority launched GHANEPS, the Ghana Electronic Procurement System, in 2019. Registered suppliers receive email notifications of new tenders and submit bids through the system.
  • Content costs less to produce. AI tools can help turn an engineer's notes into a clean spec sheet or a short explainer video in hours rather than weeks.
  • WhatsApp runs even B2B. Quotes, delivery updates and payment reminders flow through WhatsApp, which means deals also die there when nobody replies.

Step 1: Map who signs, who influences and who can block

Every B2B sale has several people in it, and each needs different proof. Write them down before you write a single advert.

RoleWhat they care aboutWhat they need from you
MD or ownerRisk, cost, reliabilityCase studies, client names, your track record
Procurement officerCompliance, price, delivery termsCompany profile, certificates, clear quotes
Technical lead or engineerSpecifications, standards, compatibilitySpec sheets, data sheets, demos
FinanceCredit terms, invoicing, payment scheduleWritten terms, proper invoices
End userEase of use, after-sales supportTraining, support contacts, response times

If your marketing only speaks to the MD, the engineer will find a reason to say no. If it only speaks to procurement, you become a price comparison.

Step 2: Make your company "procurement-ready"

A procurement-ready company can send everything a buyer needs within an hour of being asked. That speed alone can win deals, because many competitors take days to find their documents.

Your sales kit should include:

  • A short company profile (PDF and a page on your website) covering who you are, what you supply, capacity, coverage and key clients you have permission to name.
  • The documents tenders commonly ask for, such as business registration, tax clearance and SSNIT clearance certificates, kept current.
  • Product or service certifications that apply to your sector.
  • One-page spec sheets for every product line.
  • Two or three case studies.
  • Standard terms: delivery times, minimum order quantities, credit terms and warranty.

Put most of this on your website, with one page per product category or service. A distributor with a page for each brand and product line can be found for many more searches than one with a single "Products" page. Our website design and copywriting services build exactly this.

Step 3: Get on the shortlist for tenders and supplier lists

Tenders reward the preparation you did before the tender was published. If you sell to government agencies, assemblies or state enterprises, register with the PPA and on GHANEPS so you are notified of new tenders and can bid electronically. Read each tender's requirements carefully: a missing document can disqualify a bid however good the price.

Many large private buyers, such as mining companies, telecoms firms, banks, hospitals and multinationals, run their own supplier registration. Treat vendor registration as a marketing task with a target list, an owner and a deadline. A company that is already an approved supplier gets invited to quote. One that isn't never hears about the opportunity.

Step 4: Use LinkedIn to reach the people who decide

LinkedIn is where you can reach a named job title at a named company, which no other platform does as precisely. Use it two ways.

Organic: the MD and senior staff post regularly about projects delivered, lessons from the field and changes in the industry. Buyers want to know who they'll deal with. See should the founder be the face of the brand?

Paid: LinkedIn's Campaign Manager lets you target by job title, seniority, company and industry, upload a list of target companies, and retarget people who visited your website or opened a lead gen form. Clicks cost more than on Facebook, so use LinkedIn for narrow, high-value audiences: the 200 companies you most want as clients, not "everyone in business in Ghana".

Facebook and Instagram still matter for many Ghanaian SME owners and buyers, especially if you supply small businesses such as salons, shops, restaurants and contractors.

Step 5: Capture high-intent searches with Google Ads

Google Search ads put you in front of businesses at the moment they're looking for a supplier, which makes them some of the most valuable leads B2B marketing can buy. Searches like "bulk cement supplier Kumasi", "industrial generator dealers in Accra" or "PPE wholesale Ghana" have small volumes but enormous value per lead.

Three rules make it work:

  1. Exclude consumer intent. Add negative keywords so you don't pay for "price of one bag" or "cheap" searches if you only sell in bulk.
  2. Send each ad to a matching page, with a spec sheet, minimum order and a quote form or WhatsApp button.
  3. Tell Google which leads became deals. Google Ads supports enhanced conversions for leads and offline conversion imports, which feed outcomes from your CRM back to Google so it can find more leads like the ones that bought.

Our Google Ads service sets this up, including call and form tracking.

Step 6: Let case studies and spec sheets sell when you're not in the room

In B2B, your content gets forwarded to people you will never meet, so it must make your case on its own. A case study is one of the most persuasive things you can send: the client, their problem, what you supplied, how fast, and what changed. A spec sheet answers the engineer's questions before they become objections.

We've written a full guide to B2B content marketing in Ghana, covering which content wins contracts and a simple monthly plan, so we won't repeat it here. The key point for this guide: build every piece of content to be sent by your sales team, not just posted.

Strong, factual content also improves how AI assistants describe you. See how to get recommended by ChatGPT.

Step 7: Follow up like your pipeline depends on it

A lot of B2B revenue is lost after the first conversation, not before it. Quotes go out and nobody calls back. A contact changes jobs. A tender closes while the proposal sits in someone's drafts.

A simple CRM prevents a lot of this. Set up stages that match how you sell, for example: new enquiry, qualified, site visit or demo, quote sent, negotiation, purchase order, delivered, paid. Then apply three rules:

  • Reply to every new enquiry within the hour during working hours. See speed to lead.
  • Qualify early: budget, timeline, who decides, and what they use now. See how to qualify leads.
  • Give every quote a follow-up date, and don't close it until you have a yes or a clear no.

Are trade shows still worth it?

Trade shows are worth it when you treat them as lead capture with a follow-up plan, and a waste of money when you treat them as a day out. Before the show, message your target list and invite them to your stand. At the stand, have one clear offer and a QR code to a short form so every contact goes straight into your CRM. Within 48 hours, follow up every contact with a relevant case study or spec sheet. Afterwards, retarget visitors with LinkedIn and Facebook ads.

Industry conferences in mining, oil and gas, construction, agribusiness and manufacturing often produce better leads than general fairs, because everyone there is in your market.

What MediaWura would do

For a B2B company, distributor or manufacturer, we would:

  1. Map your buyer roles and the companies you most want to win.
  2. Build or rebuild your website with product, service and case study pages that answer buyers' questions.
  3. Create a procurement-ready sales kit and spec sheet templates.
  4. Run Google Search ads on high-intent supplier searches, and LinkedIn ads to your target accounts.
  5. Set up a CRM pipeline with follow-up reminders and tracking that shows which marketing produced which deals.

Our lead generation service brings these together.

Common questions

How long does B2B marketing take to produce leads?

Google Search ads can start bringing enquiries soon after launch, if businesses already search for what you sell. Deals usually take longer, because B2B buying cycles in Ghana often run for weeks or months. SEO and LinkedIn content build steadily over months.

Is LinkedIn or Facebook better for B2B in Ghana?

LinkedIn is better for reaching specific job titles at larger companies. Facebook and Instagram are often better if you sell to SME owners. Many B2B firms need both, with different messages.

Should B2B companies publish prices?

Publish what you can: starting prices, price ranges or minimum order quantities. Buyers screen suppliers before they call, and a range filters out time-wasters while showing you're open.

We sell through relationships. Do we still need marketing?

Yes. Relationships close deals, but marketing decides who gets introduced. Even referred buyers check your website and LinkedIn before the first meeting.

Can AI search help a B2B company?

Yes. When buyers ask ChatGPT or Gemini for suppliers in your category, the companies named are those with clear websites, consistent facts and mentions on other credible sites. That is work you can do on purpose.
