Facebook Lead Forms vs Landing Pages: Which Gets Better Leads?

Instant forms bring cheap leads, landing pages bring better ones. When to use each, how to improve lead quality, and how to follow up fast enough to close.

If you sell services, property, courses or anything that needs a conversation, you've probably tried Facebook lead adverts. You've probably also discovered that cheap leads aren't always good leads.

There are two main ways to collect leads from Facebook and Instagram adverts: instant forms inside the app, or a landing page on your own site. Each has a place.

Instant forms

The form opens inside Facebook or Instagram, pre-filled with the person's name, email and number.

Pros:

  • Very easy to submit, so you get more leads.
  • Cheaper cost per lead.
  • No website needed.

Cons:

  • Easy to submit by accident or without thinking.
  • Pre-filled details are sometimes out of date.
  • People often forget they filled it in.

Landing pages

The advert sends people to a page on your website, where they read more and fill in a form.

Pros:

  • People know more before they enquire, so leads are warmer.
  • You can tell the full story: proof, details, pricing.
  • Better tracking and retargeting.

Cons:

  • Fewer leads, and a higher cost per lead.
  • You need a fast, well-written page.

How to get better leads from instant forms

You can make instant forms filter better:

  • Choose "higher intent" form type, which adds a review step before submitting.
  • Ask qualifying questions: budget range, timeline, location, what they need. Multiple choice keeps it easy.
  • State the price range in the advert so people who can't afford it don't apply.
  • Add a short intro explaining what happens after they submit.
  • Use a custom thank-you screen with a call or WhatsApp button.

The follow-up decides everything

Whatever method you use, speed matters most. A lead called within five minutes is far more likely to answer and buy than one called the next day.

  • Send leads straight to your phone or CRM, not a spreadsheet you check on Friday.
  • Send an instant WhatsApp or SMS confirming you received their request.
  • Call or message within minutes during working hours.
  • Follow up several times over the next week if they don't respond.

Test both

Run both for a few weeks, and compare not cost per lead but cost per customer. A GH₵ 5 lead that never answers is more expensive than a GH₵ 25 lead that books.

Common questions

Why do my leads say they never filled in the form?

Instant forms are easy to submit by accident, and people forget. Use the higher-intent form, ask a qualifying question and follow up immediately.

Can I use WhatsApp instead of a form?

Yes. Click-to-WhatsApp adverts are another option and work well when your team replies quickly. See click-to-WhatsApp ads.

How many questions should a form have?

Enough to qualify, few enough to finish. Three to five is usually right.
