AI Video Ad Ideas: 12 Formats That Sell

Twelve AI video ad formats that work for online shops, service businesses and B2B brands, what each is best for, and how to make them without a shoot.

The hardest part of making adverts isn't production any more. AI has made production fast and affordable. The hard part is knowing what to make.

Here are twelve AI video ad formats we use, what each is good for, and how to make them. Mix several of them for each product and you'll give Meta's ad system the variety it needs. See Meta's Andromeda update.

1. The problem hook

Open with the buyer's problem in their words. "Still buying bags that peel after one month?" Then show the product solving it.

Best for: products that fix a clear frustration.

2. The close-up

Slow, detailed shots of the product: stitching, texture, the finish, the packaging. AI can create lighting and movement that would need a studio.

Best for: premium products where quality is the selling point.

3. The unboxing

The parcel arrives, it's opened, the product comes out. It answers the buyer's fear: what will I actually receive?

Best for: online shops, especially when buyers worry about fakes.

4. The "is it original?" answer

Address the fake-product fear head on. Show serial numbers, packaging details, warranty cards and how to check authenticity.

Best for: electronics, perfume, sneakers, beauty. This is how we built trust for MachineWura.

5. The testimonial-style advert

A presenter delivers real feedback from real customers. Never invented. See our rules for honest AI advertising.

Best for: any product with good reviews you're not using yet.

6. The before and after

The situation before the product, then after. Only use results that are typical and true.

Best for: cleaning products, home improvement, organisation, services.

7. The explainer

Thirty to sixty seconds showing how something works, with voiceover and simple motion graphics. See AI explainer videos.

Best for: services, software, B2B and anything new to the market.

8. The "three reasons"

Three quick reasons to buy, one per scene. Simple, easy to follow with the sound off.

Best for: comparison shoppers and products with several strengths.

9. The objection buster

Pick the most common reason people don't buy and answer it. "Worried about delivery? We deliver across Accra in 24 hours and you pay when it arrives."

Best for: turning hesitant browsers into buyers. Your WhatsApp chats will tell you which objection to tackle. See handling price objections.

10. The lifestyle scene

The product in the buyer's life: on a desk in an Airport City office, at a wedding in Kumasi, in a kitchen in East Legon. AI can place it anywhere, as long as the product stays accurate.

Best for: fashion, home, food and drink.

11. The offer advert

Lead with the offer: bundle, free delivery, limited stock or a festive deal. Clear price, clear deadline.

Best for: retargeting people who've already seen your brand. See retargeting ads.

12. The founder story

Why the business exists, told in thirty seconds. Use real footage of the founder if you can, with AI for the scenes around it. See founder-led content.

Best for: brands where the person behind it is part of the appeal.

How to use these

Don't pick one format and stop. For each product:

  1. Choose three or four formats that fit.
  2. Write two or three hooks for each.
  3. Produce them, test them, and keep the winners.
  4. Make new versions of what wins.

That's the system. The formats are just the starting points. See our creative testing framework.

What every format needs

  • A hook in the first two or three seconds.
  • The real product, clearly shown.
  • Captions, because most people watch on mute.
  • A price or price range.
  • One action.

Common questions

Which format works best?

It depends on your product and buyers, and you won't know until you test. In our experience the problem hook and objection buster are reliable starting points.

How long should AI video ads be?

For Reels and TikTok, 10 to 30 seconds usually performs best. Explainers can run longer. Test lengths along with formats.

Can you make all of these for me?

Yes. MediaWura is an AI video agency that researches, scripts, produces and tests AI video ads. See our AI video ads service.
