Why Your Website Gets Visitors but No Enquiries

People visit, then leave without calling or messaging. The most common reasons Ghanaian business websites don't convert, how to diagnose yours, and what to fix first.

Your analytics show people visiting your website. Your phone doesn't ring. Your WhatsApp stays quiet.

That gap between visitors and enquiries is called conversion, and it's usually fixable. Here are the most common causes.

1. The wrong visitors

Before blaming the website, check where visitors come from. Traffic from irrelevant searches, cheap Traffic campaigns or other countries won't enquire, however good your page is.

Check: in Google Analytics, look at traffic sources and locations. In Google Search Console, check which searches bring visitors.

2. Unclear message

Visitors don't understand quickly what you do, whether it's for them, or why you're better. Vague slogans and clever headlines make people work too hard.

Fix: a plain headline that says what you do, for whom and where. Follow it with your main benefits.

3. No proof

People don't trust you yet. No reviews, no client names, no photos of real work, no numbers.

Fix: add testimonials, case studies, client logos and real photos near the top. See building trust online.

4. The next step is hard to find

The only contact option is a form at the bottom of the contact page. The phone number is an image you can't tap.

Fix: a visible WhatsApp and call button on every page, especially on mobile. Make phone numbers tappable.

5. It's slow

On mobile data, a slow page loses many visitors before it finishes loading.

Fix: compress images, remove heavy sliders and unnecessary plugins, and test on a cheap phone. See why website speed matters.

6. No prices or guidance

People don't want to ask a price they fear is too high. "Contact us for pricing" makes many leave.

Fix: show prices, starting prices or typical ranges.

7. It doesn't work well on phones

Tiny text, buttons too close together, pop-ups that cover the screen.

Fix: design and test mobile first.

8. The form asks too much

Ten required fields and a captcha. Most people give up.

Fix: ask only what you need. Name, phone or WhatsApp number, and one or two qualifying questions.

9. Nobody replies

Sometimes enquiries do come, but go to an inbox nobody checks. Test your own forms and WhatsApp links.

Fix: send form submissions to a phone, and reply within minutes. See speed to lead.

How to diagnose your site in 30 minutes

  1. Open your site on a cheap phone on mobile data. Time how long it takes.
  2. Ask someone who doesn't know your business to tell you, within 10 seconds, what you do.
  3. Try to contact yourself through every button and form.
  4. Check traffic sources and the pages people leave from in analytics.
  5. Compare your site with your top competitor's.

Common questions

How many visitors should become enquiries?

It depends on your industry and traffic quality. Measure your current rate, fix the issues above, and watch it improve.

Should I redesign the whole website?

Not always. Many conversion problems can be fixed with better copy, proof, buttons and speed.
